Failure Testing

The best test for a plastic part is one that imitates its final use. Through failure testing, plastic parts can be exposed to a more practical material test. At PSN we have the ability to perform many of these tests.

Tests Available:

  • Accelerated Weathering
    • Determines the effects of UV exposure over a period of time. When used in conjunction with mechanical testing, results can determine life expectancy of a product.
  • Flex and Tensile Creep Tests
    • This test uses constant stress applied over time to determine elongation or deformation of a material.
  • Environmental Stress Cracking
    • Determines the chemical resistance of a material under certain stresses. Used for packaging products and containers.
  • Fatigue Testing
    • Repetition of flex or tensile stress over time can limit the life span of a product. Fatigue testing exposes a material to these conditions till failure.
  • Color Testing
    • Color is one of the most important properties of a plastic part effecting a customer's acceptance of the product. Color testing ensures consistency of a polymer's color by comparing a sample to a constant.
  • Custom Analysis
    • Custom fixturing and testing procedures to fit product specific testing
